Professor Keong Ku – A Global Lync’s Legend!

Professor Ku continues to dedicate her time and energy to supporting the project at the Daegu end.  We wish to acknowledge her tireless work and selfless attitude.  She has
sustained the project through a difficult period last year with the support of Scarlett McLean from Mt. Clear College in Victoria. Here she is working in person with one of the schools linking this week.

2017 Introductory Connections Underway!

Partnerships have kicked off strongly this year with some interesting first links.  A number of Victorian schools are now using roving wireless microphones to improve the sound at the Korean end.  Newly involved teachers have been reviewing their first experiences and building on these in preparation for upcoming collaborations.

Victorian schools with Polycom units are generally using this technology.  Professor Ku has a new assistant this year who has been working hard to support links with her bi-lingual capacity. We deeply appreciate her work.

Here are some snap-shops of recent links:

Welcome to 2017

Dear Global LYNC Teachers,

A warm welcome to the project in 2017!  We are pleased to welcome returning and some new schools to the project this year.  The demand in Daegu exceeds our Victorian capacity right now but we hope to bring more school on as the year progresses.  If you know of another teacher who might be interested in joining please refer them to us.

It has been heart warming to see that some of our partners have been able to participate in the UNESCO ROK Project as that facilitates them visiting their partner schools and working in them for a period of time in Korea and Victoria respectively.  Developing improved understanding of how our education systems can collaborate and also awareness first hand of our cultures is what Global LYNCs is all about.

More soon and once again a warm welcome to 2017 the third year for this project.

Miner’s Rest PS Korean Launch

Congratulations to Miner’s Rest PS on a fabulous day today!  Representatives from the Korean Embassy attended to celebrate involvement in Global LYNCs, the Korean language program and the visitations to and from Korean schools.  What a package!  Addressing FISO global communities perfectly!   Miner’s Rest has taken advantage of the ‘Plant a School’ program sponsored by the Korean government to introduce a vibrant language program.  The students ran the proceedings and did a splendid job.  Both the Australian and Korean National Anthems were played.

Students from various year levels delighted the Community audience with Korean song and dance.  The costumes were colourful and it was clear that their Korean teacher Aram Lee is doing a super wonderful job!  Congratulations to Principal Dale Power on his schools involvement in this wonderful work.

Global LYNCs Lesson Plan

It is highly recommended that ALL teachers use this plan for EVERY link up class. Both countries need to be working from the plan on the day of the link.
