I will be putting up many posts about my time on the Endeavour Fellowship. Here is an article that got into the paper while I was there addressing a class of students at Yulgeum Elementary school in Daegu. Teacher Youngju Hwang was so incredibly hospitable as was the Principal. This school is currently partnered with Yuille Park PS in Ballarat. Principal Clete Paige has visited there. I was interested that they had a sustainability project embedded in their curriculum. This modern school is located in what was the Olympic Village on a lovely site beside the river.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Sung Duk Middle School and meeting Global LYNC partner teacher Mr. Kim. Here are some images of the school. I received wonderful hospitality even though the school was busy with an annual Chinese delegation of students. I was able to give the students a lesson on formal debating in case they wish to join the Victorian schools involved in formal debating competitions currently using video conferencing hosted by Benalla P-12.
Partner school Wellington SC are planning a visit to the school in the not too distant future and ongoing discussions are in play regarding curriculum sharing on a regular basis. The English levels at Sung Duk are exceptional and this should be a flourishing partnership. The school is located in a delightful city with many Science Institutes. We look forward to adding some images from live video conferences and featuring this partnership in upcoming newsletters.
You can see a photo here of a meeting between Phil at Wellington and myself last week using ZOOM. He was showing me the learning management system he hopes to share with his Korean partners for sharing files etc. between live linkups.
